I tried Skewers in Gastown and ordered the lamb wrap with fries, plus tzatziki with pita.

The lamb wrap was one of the best wraps I have ever had, and it was the most authentic one I have had since being in Greece. The lamb was perfectly cooked to medium, very juicy, and well seasoned. Every bite was full of flavour, and nothing about it felt rushed or overdone. It tasted like it was made with care, and it is exactly the kind of wrap that makes you want to order a second one.

The tzatziki with the pita was also a highlight. The tzatziki was so good, and it paired perfectly with the pita.

The fries were very crispy, and they went well with the wrap.

The environment felt very Greek, and it was so friendly. It was welcoming from the moment I walked in, and it made the meal feel even more enjoyable.

    Rating: 5/5 stars

Overall, I loved my visit to Skewers. The lamb was perfectly cooked, the tzatziki and pita were a highlight, the fries were crispy, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I would go back and recommend it to anyone in Gastown.

  • Italian Kitchen Review

Meatballs in tomato sauce with grated cheese beside a pile of creamy alfredo spaghetti, served in a white bowl at Italian Kitchen, with bread and olive oil in the background.

I tried Italian Kitchen and ordered the meatballs, the burrata, and the alfredo pasta. I also tried a bite of my boyfriend’s carbonara.

The meatballs were the best I have ever had. They were the highlight of the meal for me, and I would go back just to order them again. The alfredo pasta was also a standout. It was so creamy and tasted authentic, and it was exactly what I want from a good alfredo.

The burrata was good, but it was not as fresh or as memorable as I hoped it would be. There was nothing wrong with it, it just did not stand out the way the meatballs and the alfredo did.

The carbonara was the one dish I did not enjoy. It was very plain, and the egg taste overpowered everything else. I did not like it at all. I only tried a bite from my boyfriend’s plate, so this is just my personal taste, but it was not for me.

The service was amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive, and it made the whole visit feel more welcoming and enjoyable.

    Rating: 3.7/5 stars

Overall, I had a great experience. The meatballs, the alfredo, and the service were excellent, and the carbonara was the only miss.

I tried Ask for Luigi in Vancouver and ordered the Campanelle with Braised Beef Ragu, the Pappardelle with Wild and Cultivated Mushrooms and Fonduta, and their focaccia.

The campanelle was very good, and it was the best dish of the meal for me. The beef in the ragu stood out the most because it was tender and full of flavour. It made the whole dish feel rich and well balanced, and it is the one I would order again.

The pappardelle was okay, but it was not the best mushroom pasta I have had. It was very saucy for my taste, and I think it needed more salt to bring out the flavour of the mushrooms. The fonduta added richness, but at times it felt like there was more sauce than pasta.

The focaccia was amazing. It was very soft, and with the olive oil and balsamic it brought me back to Italy. I would go back just for the bread.

    Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would go back for the beef ragu and the focaccia. The mushroom pappardelle was the weaker dish, and the price was a bit high for what you get, which is the main thing keeping the rating at 3.5.

  • Gordon Ramsay Burger Vancouver Review

    WebsiteGordon Ramsay Burger, Coquitlam

I tried Gordon Ramsay Burger at the Great Canadian Casino in Coquitlam and ordered the Blue Cheeseburger with Truffle Parmesan Fries. The burger came with caramelized onions, crispy onion strings, lettuce, spicy aioli, blue cheese dressing, and blue cheese.

The beef patty was great quality and had a nice texture, but I would have preferred it cooked closer to medium rare. I think that would have made it juicier and brought out more of the beef flavour. Overall, the burger was a little too salty for me. I really enjoy blue cheese, so I liked the strong flavour, but I think the blue cheese sauce could have been balanced better with the other ingredients. At times, it overpowered the rest of the burger instead of letting each flavour stand out.

The Truffle Parmesan Fries were flavorful and paired well with the burger. The truffle flavour came through nicely, and the parmesan added a good richness. However, the fries were also on the salty side, which made the overall meal feel a bit heavier than I would have liked.

The service was actually one of the strongest parts of the experience. I would say it stood out more than the food itself. The staff were attentive, welcoming, and made the experience feel more polished. Good service can make a big difference, especially at a restaurant connected to a well known name like Gordon Ramsay, and I felt the service helped make the visit more enjoyable overall.

I still enjoyed the meal and thought the quality of the patty was one of the strongest parts. The burger had a lot of flavour, the fries were a good pairing, and the service was excellent. I just think the food would have been better with less salt and a more balanced blue cheese flavour.

    Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Overall, it was a good experience with strong flavours, a quality burger patty, and very good service. The saltiness and balance of the blue cheese were the main things keeping it from a higher rating for me.
