Setting Up Kezjana’s Corner

The first major challenge in creating Kezjana’s Corner was setting up my own domain and hosting. I purchased my domain name, created a hosting account with Reclaim Hosting, and installed WordPress on the server. Terms such as domain, hosting, and cPanel were unfamiliar to me when I began. I followed each step of the course’s hosting setup guide, and once WordPress was running, the remaining tasks felt much easier. I also researched how to use categories and tags so that I could run the site in an organized way.

Deciding what the site would be about was easier than finding a host or installing WordPress. Food is something I am interested in, and it gives me a consistent subject to write about, so it was an obvious choice. When I decided to include Vancouver and everyday life alongside food, I knew the site needed a tagline. I chose “Food, life, and Vancouver through my eyes.”

My vision board was meant to capture the ambiance of a nice restaurant, which led me to choose Twenty Twenty-Five as my base theme. It is simple, easy to use, and accessibility ready. In the future, I plan to add warmer colors so that the color scheme matches my vision board more closely. I also set up categories for Food Reviews, Process Posts, and Mini Assignments, and I tagged all course posts with posiel so that my instructor can gather them.

The area I still need to develop is my writing style for the site. I want it to feel genuine and casual, like myself, rather than like a formal review site.
